BALCO’s Community Development Endeavours Commendable: Minister Lakhan Lal Dewangan



त्रिनेत्र टाइम्स कोरबा **//**//** Balconagar, June 6, 2026: Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), a unit of Vedanta Aluminium, inaugurated a newly constructed community hall in Nehru Nagar in the presence of Shri Lakhan Lal Dewangan, Hon’ble Minister for Commerce & Industry, Public Enterprises, Commercial Tax (Excise) and Labour, Government of Chhattisgarh; Smt. Sanju Devi Rajput, Mayor, Korba Municipal Corporation; Mr. Rajesh Kumar Singh, CEO & Whole Time Director, BALCO; and Shri Kriparam Sahu, Ward Councillor, Nehru Nagar.
The programme witnessed the participation of local public representatives, community members, government officials, and BALCO employees, reflecting a shared commitment towards community development and the strengthening of public infrastructure.
The event commenced with the inauguration of the community hall and unveiling of the commemorative plaque, followed by a tour of the facility. The dignitaries reviewed the infrastructure and appreciated BALCO’s efforts towards enhancing community amenities and improving the quality of life of local residents.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Shri Lakhan Lal Dewangan said, “BALCO is undertaking commendable work not only in industrial development but also in the areas of social development, education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, and infrastructure development. This community hall, constructed in Nehru Nagar, will serve as an important centre for social, cultural, and community activities for local residents. I encourage all citizens to make optimum use of this facility and transform it into a vibrant hub for social participation and public welfare initiatives.”

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rajesh Kumar Singh, CEO & Whole Time Director, BALCO, said, “Our intent at dedicating the community hall to the citizens is to ensure enhanced camaraderie among people. Infrastructural upgradation is a positive sign of a society’s development and BALCO is happy to partner in its progress. We are thankful to the community for reposing their trust in the work we do.”
The community hall will serve as an important centre for community gatherings, social events, and public-interest activities. Facilities such as ramps have also been installed to ensure easy access for specially-abled and senior citizens. This initiative marks an important step towards developing accessible and inclusive public infrastructure for all.
As part of its continued efforts to bridge critical infrastructure gaps and strengthen community well-being, BALCO has developed several inclusive public assets, including 12 community toilets, two community stages, and four community halls in FY26. These initiatives have strengthened sanitation, encouraged social interaction, and enhanced community cohesion, positively impacting the quality of life across neighbouring communities.
