BALCO Launches Trailblazing Education Assistance Policy for Transgender Employees, Reinforces DE&I Commitment

 त्रिनेत्र टाइम्स कोरबा  Balconagar,****/ 16th March 2025 – Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), a flagship entity under Vedanta Aluminium and one of India’s leading aluminium producers, has taken a landmark step towards strengthening workplace inclusivity by launching an education assistance policy exclusively for transgender employees.

Under this progressive initiative, transgender employees with a minimum of 18 months of continuous service will be eligible for financial support of up to INR 1 lakh to pursue professional education. This initiative is aimed at bridging the education and opportunity gap while empowering transgender individuals to achieve their professional aspirations.

Paving the Way for a More Inclusive Workplace

The new policy is a part of BALCO’s broader Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) charter, which focuses on creating a supportive and respectful environment for all employees, irrespective of their gender identity. This includes:

  • Gender Reaffirmation Policy with provisions for paid leave and financial support for gender reassignment surgeries.
  • Dedicated housing assistance for transgender employees to ensure dignified living conditions.
  • Regular sensitization workshops and community engagement activities to build awareness and acceptance across the organization.
